One provider accountable for the water in your entire hotel

Hotels on the Yucatán Peninsula work with several providers: one for the pool, another for the lab, another for the boilers. When the inspector arrives, nobody has the complete file. We sample, treat and document every area on a fixed schedule, with a report ready to present.

Coverage in Cancún and the Riviera Maya

We serve hotels, condominiums and industry in southeast Mexico, with a technical team in the region and EMA-accredited laboratories.

Mexican regulations we work to

Our work, and the accredited laboratories we use, follow Mexican regulations, including NOM-127 (drinking water) and NOM-001 (wastewater discharges). COFEPRIS (health) and CONAGUA (water) are the authorities that enforce them.

Water treatment FAQ

What is industrial water treatment, and why is it needed?

Industrial water treatment means testing and conditioning water so it can be used safely in different processes. It protects equipment such as boilers, cooling towers and chillers through physicochemical testing, chemical treatment and filtration systems. In Mexico, water for general use must meet NOM-127-SSA1, and wastewater discharges must meet NOM-001-SEMARNAT and NOM-002-SEMARNAT.

Which Mexican standards regulate water quality?

It depends on how the water is used. Wastewater discharges fall under NOM-001-SEMARNAT and NOM-002-SEMARNAT. Water for general use falls under NOM-127-SSA1, Mexico’s drinking water standard. Pools fall under NOM-245-SSA1. Compliance is verified with physicochemical and bacteriological testing.

How do I know if I need a water treatment system?

You may need one if you see metal loss in hot or chilled water lines, scale in cooling towers, or if you generate wastewater discharges or reverse osmosis reject water. A physicochemical and bacteriological analysis shows the condition of the water and the right treatment.

Which sectors does Grupo Eytra serve?

Mainly hotels and resorts, as well as condominiums, residential resort developments and industry. Our services include physicochemical and bacteriological testing, chemical supply, filtration equipment and technical advice to improve water quality.

What water testing does a hotel need?

A hotel usually tests its pools and hot tubs (NOM-245-SSA1), ice (NOM-201-SSA1) and service water (NOM-127-SSA1) every month; Legionella in hot water and cooling towers every two months; and the discharges from its wastewater treatment plant (NOM-001 or NOM-002-SEMARNAT) as the local water utility requires. With those reports, the hotel builds its file for COFEPRIS, the Distintivo H and brand standards audits.

What does a water treatment assessment include?

Sampling at critical points, physicochemical and bacteriological testing, a review of equipment such as filters, water softeners and reverse osmosis units, and an evaluation of problems such as corrosion or scale. You receive a technical report with recommendations and solutions.

What happens if water is not treated?

Untreated water can cause scale, corrosion and premature wear in boilers, chillers and cooling towers, lowering their efficiency and service life. It can also raise operating costs and lead to process failures and health risks.
