Monthly treatment contract

Cooling tower, boiler and chiller water treatment

The Yucatán Peninsula’s hard water builds scale in boilers and corrodes chillers. Every month we dose and test on site with our BM formulas, and you just review the report.

Chemical water treatment: frequently asked questions

About chemical treatment programs for boilers and cooling towers

What does a chemical treatment program include?

A complete program includes an initial assessment with water testing, selection of the right chemicals for your system, dosing equipment, staff training, periodic technical service visits, monthly control testing and follow-up reports.

How often are service visits made?

Usually monthly, to adjust dosing, check equipment and run control tests. In critical systems or systems with a history of problems, visits can start every two weeks until the program stabilizes.

What if my boiler already has scale buildup?

First, a chemical cleaning (descaling) removes the existing scale. Once the boiler is clean, the preventive program keeps new scale from forming. The cleaning can be done in operation or during a scheduled shutdown.

How much does a chemical treatment program cost?

The cost depends on the type of system, equipment capacity, water conditions and the treatment required. Every facility is different, so we recommend an assessment to define the right solution. Request a tailored quote.

How do I know the treatment is working?

We test key parameters every month: hardness, pH, alkalinity, iron, silica, conductivity and others. The results are compared against target ranges and delivered in reports that show trends and the status of the program.

What are the signs that a cooling tower needs urgent treatment?

The three main signs are cloudy or greenish water (uncontrolled microbiological growth), white or brown deposits on the nozzles and fill (calcium or silica scale), and an unusual rise in the outlet water temperature (efficiency loss from fouling). A sulfide odor or excessive foam is also a warning sign of anaerobic bacterial activity.

What is Legionella, and why are cooling towers a risk?

Legionella pneumophila is the bacterium that causes Legionnaires’ disease, a potentially fatal pneumonia. Cooling towers are a risk because they produce aerosols (microscopic droplets) that can spread the bacterium hundreds of meters. It thrives in water between 25 and 45 °C (77 and 113 °F) where there is biofilm. A treatment program with the right biocides and periodic Legionella testing is essential to prevent outbreaks.

Not sure what your system needs?

We test the makeup water and the tower or boiler water, and propose the treatment.
